We often joke that every child that comes to Nanny’s House receives over 75 years of combined day care experience!
Nanny’s House, Inc. provides Full-time or part-time child care, as well as educational programs, for children between the ages of newborn and pre-school in a safe, secure and nurturing environment. The program encourages creativity, individuality and healthy, normal cognitive development, suited to the needs and abilities of the individual child. The program enables each child to develop normally in terms of healthy psychosocial behavior. We spend the day doing all sorts of enriching activities, whether it’s catching some fresh air, playing in a sandbox, taking field trips to farms and other exciting places, or age- appropriate educational computer games for all ages.
This Large Family Child care provides teacher/child ratios that are lower than those required by the Office for Childcare Services. The square footage allowed each child is greater than that mandated by the state regulation in order to provide for each child’s comfort and need for movement. Children’s nutritional needs are addressed with healthy, appealing meals. Nanny’s is truly the best environment a parent could ask for their child.
Risa is the mother of three grown children. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from the State University of New York at Albany, with additional coursework in early childhood education. She has Massachusetts Director Certification, the highest level of certification available to Massachusetts childcare providers, which qualifies her to direct a daycare center with an unlimited number of children in attendance.
She is a member of the professional organization, NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). From 1974 until the birth of her own children, Risa taught in public schools around the United States. In 1991, after her children were all in school, she started a family childcare business in her home, limiting attendance to three children (although she was licensed for six).
After several years, Risa decided to expand her daycare. She became licensed as a Large Family Provider, and in 1999, after enlarging her home and hiring additional providers, she opened her newly named Large Family Childcare, Nanny’s House.

Dona joined Nanny’s House as a licensed Approved Assistant in 2000. She contributes greatly to Nanny’s, providing childcare, as well as preparing most of the children’s meals.
She is a caring, loving and nurturing friend and teacher for the children. It’s hard not to fall instantly in love with Dona, as we and the children consistently have throughout her several years with us. We look forward to many more.
